이명순은 하루의 시작을 ‘감사’로 인식하며, 삶과 죽음의 경계에 대한 성찰을 바탕으로 존재의 의미를 탐구한다. 예측할 수 없는 하루 속에서 그는 오히려 삶의 본질적 긴장과 가치를 발견한다.
그의 작업은 고통과 위로, 현실과 환상이 교차하는 지점에서 전개되며, 예술을 통한 치유의 과정으로 기능한다. 특히 큰 병 이후, 하루는 하나의 ‘일생’과 같은 밀도를 가지게 되었고, 이러한 경험은 작품 전반에 깊이 반영되어 있다. 일상의 감정과 상처는 화면 위에서 서사로 재구성되며 관객과의 공감을 이끌어낸다.
다채로운 색채와 물성의 조화는 그의 내면과 삶의 궤적을 담는 또 하나의 언어이다. 또한 화가였던 부친과의 정신적 대화 속에서, 그는 “어떻게 감성에 닿을 수 있는가”라는 본질적 질문을 이어간다.
이명순의 회화는 삶에 대한 통찰과 치유의 메시지를 담으며, 우리가 어떤 감정으로 하루를 시작하고 마무리하는지 묻는다.
A Healing Narrative Between Life and Art
Lee Myung Soon approaches each morning with gratitude, grounded in a contemplation of the boundary between life and death. Within the uncertainty of daily life, she discovers the essential tension and meaning of existence.
Her work unfolds where pain and comfort, reality and fantasy intersect, functioning as a process of healing through art. Following a serious illness, each day came to hold the density of a lifetime—an experience deeply embedded in her practice. Everyday emotions and wounds are restructured into narrative forms that resonate with the viewer.
The harmony of materiality and color becomes another language conveying her inner world and life trajectory. Reflecting on her father, also a painter, she continues to ask: how can art truly reach the viewer’s emotions?
Lee’s paintings offer both philosophical insight and a message of healing, ultimately asking how we begin and end each day.
